A NIGHT TRAIN TO ROME
A WORKSHOP RECORDING BY ROBERT BURNS
THE SCENE.
The play takes place on a south bound express heading towards ROME in the early hours of the morning in April 1980.
It is the day before the return leg of a football match between Arsenal and Roma, and now, against a background of loud mouthed Football hooligans planning a major battle with rival Italian fans on the streets of Rome, a young man and a young woman aim to sell a stolen stash of drugs when they reach their destination.
Their plans, however, are thrown awry when they become involved with a mysterious stranger, who tells them that he is desperate to build a new life outside of Italy, where he claims he has been living in fear for his life.
